ENVO Acquires MoonBikes to Scale and Innovate Ultralight Winter Mobility Tech
ENVO Drive Systems has acquired an electric mobility innovator based out of France, the Vancouver startup announced this week.
ENVO is now the owner of MoonBikes, which launched in 2018 to develop the world’s first ultralight electric snowbike.
The silent, zero-emissions MoonBike promises a range of up to 64 kilometres with a dual battery option.
“Ten years ago, I started MoonBikes in my kitchen in the French Alps with a simple idea,” says founder Nicolas Muron, “[to] reinvent snow mobility with a machine that was electric, lightweight, and fun.”
“Today, with ENVO’s industrial capacity, service network, and North American presence, I know MoonBike is ready to carve even deeper tracks in the snow,” he stated.
Through the acquisition, ENVO is scaling distribution, customer support, and innovation for MoonBikes, according to chief executive officer Ali Kazemkhani, who believes that, with his company’s backing, the French firm can expand globally.
“We have come a long way, witnessing many failures in the mobility space,” he said.
Kazemkhani and his team have learned “that the key to a sustainable business is recognizing and embracing the diversity and niche nature of use cases.”
“At ENVO, we have built an ecosystem that brings together diverse micromobility and light EV solutions under one umbrella, powered by a talented, forward-thinking team,” he remarked.
“Veemo was our first acquisition,” Kazemkhani continued, “and MoonBikes will not be the last as we continue to advance right-sized mobility solutions with dedication to customer success.”
Earlier this year, ENVO Drive Systems partnered San Francisco’s Faction Technology.
By combining ENVO’s versatile Utility Personal Transporter platform with Faction’s driverless technology, the collaboration is poised to create fleets of flexible micro-EVs tailored for niche but important markets.
ENVO’s UPT was originally revealed last year at Everything Electric in Vancouver.
The B.C. startup has been named one of Canada’s most investible cleantech firms and has also been recognized among the nation’s fastest growing clean technology companies.
